Annotation In accordance with the European Commission’s decision to take action and to give support to the survivors of sexual violence including rape during the war in Kosovo, ICMPD was tasked with the implementation of the project “Rape is a War Crime – How to support the survivors, Lessons from Bosnia - Strategies for Kosovo”, which was funded by the Odysseus Programme of the European Commission and the Governments of Sweden and Austria.

The project started with the organisation of a major conference on the topic. Amongst the participants were around 160 representatives from governmental agencies, international humanitarian organisations and NGOs. ICMPD produced and published an extensive Conference Report of which almost 600 copies have been distributed among Governments, international organisations and NGOs mainly in Europe and North America, but also in other parts of the world.
