Annotation Dialogue Through Film is a unique initiative bringing together young Azerbaijanis and Karabakhis who have made a series of films about the conflict over Nagorny Karabakh. This region in the Caucasus has been the focus of a dispute between Azerbaijanis and Armenians for more than a decade. Working across the conflict divide, these budding journalists have made short films reflecting the traumas, fears, hopes and humour of people affected by the as yet unresolved Karabak conflict. The project started in 2006 and has involved twenty young people. They received professional training and have also had the chance to meet to critique each other's films and to discucc new ideas. The project has provided the opportunity for a two-fold dialogue. Not only have the young film-makers been able to engage and work with each other, but the films themselves are a dialogue through which they have tried to say something to each other about the societies in which they live. For all those involved in this project, the process of working together and searching for understanding has been as much an achievement as the films themselves.

Dialogue Through Film is a joint collaboration between Conciliation Resources, Internews Armenia, Internews Azerbaijan and the Stepanakert Press Club.

This project has been made possible with the support of the United Kingdom Global Conflict Prevention Pool through a grant to the Consortium Initiative, a coalition of international NGOs working to improve prospects for a resolution of the Nagorny Karabakh conflict.

Consiliation Resources is an independent non-governmental organization working to prevent violence, promote justice and transform conflict into opportunities for development.
